'Drugstore' VS ' High-end' on based make-up

Hi Guys, as I mentioned last week that my next review will be on 'Drugstore' and ' High-end' products, believe me I am very excited to write this review, cause like most, I was curious to find out the differences. So my whole review is based on that.

 Lets get started.
Firstly before I apply base make up, I always make sure I have washed my face with face-wash or clean using a facial-wipe. This is really important before starting any make-up do.
I use 'Boots essentials cucumber cleansing wipes', really good and very refreshing.

Then a layer of moisturiser, my favourite, ' Vaseline Cocoa Radiant'. If you have extremely dry skin like me, I would suggest you to apply a good layer of moisturiser all over and wait for a min, for you skin to absorb and then apply another layer.
However, if your skin is oily, just tap a thin layer all over your face, not much.

Drugstore products used:-
Collection Lasting Perfection Foundation, Shade- Honey
Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer, Shade- Medium
Collection Sheer Loose Powder, Shade- Barely There

High-end products used:-
Mac Face and Body Foundation, Shade- C3
Mac Select Cover Up Concealer, Shade- NC30
Mac Select Sheer/ Loose, Shade- NC30

Ok, drugstore products first. Firstly I have an extremely dry sensitive skin. I have used numerous drugstore foundation, concealer, including brands like maybelline, l'oreal, rimmel and MUA, and nothing suited me. Until I came across ' Collection 2000' new range 'Lasting perfection'. I used the concealer first, after reading couple of reviews and saw positive feedbacks, and I must saw I was not disappointed at all, it was awesome. Soon I also grab the foundation and was equally pleased with it's results. The ' Lasting Perfection' range provides medium to built-in heavy coverage. The plus points are, very good coverage, excellent longevity, the sheer loose powder helps to set the foundation well and gives a nice glow to the face.
The common disadvantage, limited choices of shades available, hard to match a shade that goes perfectly with your skin tone. Like I used the shade Honey in foundation and shade Medium in concealer, both makes my skin 2 step lighter then my natural tone, so looks a bit unnatural. If I go a shade higher, then it will make me a step or so darker then my colour, will look like I have got a fake tan or something.
After a time period ( in my case 7-8 hours)......the foundation and concealer starts to form white mark, which is visible around my noise, creases are form underneath my eyes. Also, my skin starts to become oily and glossy.
Although might not be visible in the photo above but it gave a cakey finish, feels a little bit heavy on my skin. In other words, your base make up should be as natural as possible, but in the left hand photo, its quite visible that I have applied something whitish :P on my face. So in most cases drugstore products fail to give a natural finish.

After being disappointed on drugstore products (i.e. before I came across Collection Lasting Perfection), I turned to high-end i.e. MAC ( no suprises there). Mac is no doubt one of the most loved high-end brand. One thing I really like about MAC is it gives you so many choices in terms of shades and has products for any skin type.
I like to keep my foundation light and as natural as possible.........and thats why I went with MAC face and body foundation. Its is in light liquid form, good for dry to normal skin. It gives a light to built up medium coverage and a jewy finish. My shades is C3 and perfectly matches my skin tone. After applying, it gives a slight yellowish natural glow to my face ( as you can see in the right side photo above).
The MAC select cover up concealer is also for dry to normal skin. Great coverage with flawless finish, the shade NC30 is perfect for me. ( In concealer, you should always choose a shade that is slightly lighter then your skin tone). Both the foundation and concealer blends well and my face ends up looking luminous =P ( thats true) and photo friendly.
The Mac sheer/ loose ( Shade- NC30) absorbs any excess oil from my face, sets  the foundation and concealer perfectly and my make-up stays intact for a longer time period.
Sorry but I cant find any flaws.....accept it gives me a headache when finding my shade........testing n trying =P.
You can judge by the above photo that MAC suits me better then Collection 2000.

Swatches of all the products will be uploaded on my Facebook page.

Hope you like my review.

FASHIONISTA AND ACCESSORIZE SINGLE BAKED EYESHADOWS

FASHIONISTA DOUBLE TAKE MERGED EYESHADOWS

SHADE- COSMIC

SHADE- GLOBE

The Fashionista Double Take Baked Eyeshadow cost £4 ( Superdrug UK), weight 2.5g. Made in China. I am not quite sure when they were launched so I will go straight into reviewing them.

I bought two shades Cosmic and Globe. Swatches are given below.

Cosmic is merged of 3 colours, graphite being the main, brick red and hint of silver. Same in the case of Globe, deep blue is the main, baby blue and touch of gold. Now when you swatch them a beautiful shade appears with all 3 colours  quite visible, and I must say looks really pretty, but my camera failed to capture it =(. Anyway the eyeshadows are extremely pigmented and shimmery but due to their baked form they due cause a little bit of flakes nothing extreme. In this case an eyeshadow base/ primer will do the work.

ACCESSORIZE MERGED EYESHADOW

Accessorize merged eye shadow, shade Purple Drama. Retail price of £3.95 ( in Superdrug UK). Weight 3g. Swatch given below.

The Purple Drama is a mix of 4 shimmer colours, deep purple, light purple, pink and sprinkle of silver. The colours appears in different shades of purple, is really gorgeous, when you swatch all over ( although not clear in the picture above). Highly pigmented and lil flaky cause this is also a baked eyeshadow. So as I said earlier that an eyeshadow primer does come handy.

Below is a look I created using Fashionista Double take Globe and Accessorize Merged Eyeshadow Purple Drama.

In conclusion I will recommend these products to a friend.
What do you thinks?

Thanks guys.

HOW TO SHAPE YOUR EYEBROWS.

HOW TO SHAPE YOUR EYEBROWS

List of products used
1. Miss Sporty Kohl Kajal Eye Pencil- Chocolate brown
2. W7 Automatic Eyeliner Pencil- Black
3. W7 Style Eyes Brow & Lash Shaping Gel

First Step

As I have dark eyebrows I used a chocolate brown colour eye pencil, to do the base. Don't use a black eye pencil to do the base, it will make your eyebrows deep dark and unnatural ( plus you will end up having witch eyebrows =P).
Draw a border line around your eye brows, make sure the border shape of the two matches as much as possible.

Use a pointed sponge brush to smudge the line and fill the eyebrows, until no harsh line is visible. Then use the W7 automatic eyeliner pencil to fill any visible empty spaces. Fill those spaces with one light stroke with the eye pencil, dont make any deep lines. Again take the pointed sponge brush to smudge the lines well and so that no harsh line are visible. Take the W7 style eyebrow gel to shape and set the eyebrows. Gently brush over your brows.

Wait for the gel to dry and use a q-tips to remove any smudges around your eyebrows.
In case you think, you have make the brows too dark, before using the brow gel take a small towel and gently swipe across your eyebrow, dont press it hard, be very careful while doing it, you don't want smudges around.

There you go, that is how I shape my brows.
Hope you like it.

NYX Smokey Eyeshadow Palette

NYX Smokey Eyeshadow Palette

The NYX Smokey Eyeshadow Palette was launched mid of last year. Its ' cruelty free' as stated at the back of the palette. This is very important to check before purchasing any kind of products. The palette cost $7.50 and made in China. Dimension:4.75"x2.1"x0.5" and weight 0.21 OZ (6 G)

The palette contains 6 amazing eyeshadows and comes with a two heads sponge brush. As the name suggest, the shades are perfect to do smokey eyes, dramatic eyes or party eyes. Swatches are given below.

The shades are soft and highly pigmented, as you can see. There are 2 shimmer, 3 metallic and 1 matte shades. Although the names are not provided in the palette, I will list the names according to the jumbo pencils they match ( from left to right)- Slate, Black bean, Purple velvet, Cobalt, Yoghurt, Cottage cheese.
Now accept for Black bean ( the matte shade) none of the eyeshadow cause any flakes.

All in all I love this palette, and you should grab one too, if you are like me,  prefers highlighting your eyes when doing a makeover.
Below is a look I created only using this palette.
